I found and purchased a PodXTLive on ebay (18 April 2007). I was playing with my new to me PodXTLive, fantastic, even with my pos guitar. Took a break, looked on ebay and found a Variax 300 with the cable.
Maybe Someday List
07-07-14I thought that I might want one or more of these: ![]() ![]() someday. As far as a Variax with electric guitar sounds; the 300 has the same sounds as a 500, 600 or 700. After studying Jeff Miller's and Rose W.'s efforts and reading other related material. I'll build a replacement body for my first 300. Perhaps later I'll try a neck through body guitar similar to this or this. As for as the Vetta, I found a used combo on ebay. I like it much more than the PodXTLive. I still like the idea of a Vetta rack, which as far as I know isn't produced. (My thinking being that if two amps at once is good perhaps four or more would even better. --This is possible with combos and HDs but it eats up a lot of room. In search of Vetta. "I believe" I wanna' see ... an FBV with PodXTLive style foot switches. Vetta Rack -no power amp, instead stereo xover with option for dual subs. Control of xover via patch. Example: Most electric guitar sounds out 12" output. Full ranges sounds like from an accoustic guitar from all three sets of outputs, tweets, 12" and subs. USB2 -with wet and dry sounds recordable on the attached computer. FBV jacks: in and thru. Vetta Floor -Similar to Vetta Rack and PodXTLive, three pedals: volume, wah, and assignable. FBV output jack. Vetta Rack in Reason . -with hardware support for Vetta Rack, Vetta Floor, and PodXTLive. It could somehow have direct support for an FBV and Variax via a custom 'tone port' that has a FBV port and a digital Variax port. Line6 power amps to drive the various cabnets. For Variax electric guitars, (info from line6.com ) E: 10 (High) B: 13 G: 17 D: 26 A: 36 E: 46 (low) 1-1-08 I've constructed a proof of concept guitar body with trem in a method which is something similar to building a hollow core door.
It's warping already due to string pressure (I expect) so the next one will include strenthening plates. Something like wooden L girders used in model railroading. 1-19-08 I've been working on the next version. It will be shaped like a MiniZ All luan except the part where the neck 'bolts' on and the stiffener for the tremolo pins. At some point it will have a Seymour Duncan Vintage Blues '59 Humbucker Set (Black). And I have planned to alter my other Variax in a similar way. Possibly with Seymour Duncan Distortion Mayhem SH-6 Humbucker Pair (Black). and a custom sustainer for each guitar. misc guitar links 4-29-08 shaped similar to a Mini Z
It's a learning experience. I want more of a leg rest for the next version. Also I am going to make the core different. It only needs to be wide enough to accommodate the humbuckers. Also the core needs to be made from a tone wood. This birch plywood doesn't have enough resonance for my tatse. Recessed jacks are needed. More of an arm rest would be nice. Aluminum foil as a sheild. Held on with wood glue and foil tape that I found at a hardware store. Magnets hold the back on. Secured to the wood with CA. Return to Hifi Joe |
